Appliances came today and we unpacked them. They fit well and look great, and I have attached a few pictures. I happen to have 4th graders today and they were very excited...for about 18 seconds, then their attention turned to the boxes the appliances came in. A tornado could have ripped off the roof and they wouldn't have noticed. My carefully laid out lesson plans were put on the back burner while they planned, cut, and built a series of connected dwellings. I went with it and we spent the next hour and a half discussing the pros and cons of cardboard living. We decided if this was your only options, how could it be improved, where could we get the material, and how viable an idea it was. Did I get to tell the kids my anticipatory set, my goals, my objectives, no I didn't need to, they were already way beyond that. Best job in the world.
